art by Advanced Placement Studio Art Students

Join us for the fourth Annual Exhibit by local Advanced Placement Arts students to encourage and support our rising stars in what promises to be another lively and interesting show.

This year students from Columbia High School, South Orange are joined by those from Arts High School in Newark and Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights

Advanced Placement Studio Art is a class for students who are seriously interested in the practical experience of art and 1978 Arts Center is pleased to be able to provide students with some practical exhibition experience. We hope you will stop by the opening reception to talk to the students about their work. AP Studio Art is not based on a written examination; instead, students submit portfolios for evaluation at the end of the school year.

Larry McKim teaches the AP Arts program at Columbia. His class is one the longest running APs in the state, preparing hundreds of students for success in the arts. Larry is a noted artist in his own right and exhibits in major art venues in New York and New Jersey.  This year Fausto Sevila’s AP students from Arts High School in Newark  and Neil Korn’s AP students from Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights will also add their talent to the show
