January 15th - February 26th, 2012
While African Americans look for their historical roots, Tesfaye revels in searching out his branches. As he has stated, “Together we form a Tree”. The visual and aural associations of the African American culture reverberate in his paintings in the featured “Comb Series”. The confluence of rhythmic designs and colors in an improvisational style are a reflection of the jazz music he loves.
TESFAYE TESSEMA has achieved recognition and earned respect for his work at a national and international level during the past decades. In addition to exhibiting at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, his work has been exhibited in France, Germany, England, and Japan.
