Gallery Hours During Exhibitions:
Saturday & Sunday, 2-5pm
Out of the Shadows and Into the Box
February 25th 1-5pm

This workshop will explore how the medium shadow box making can be used to make a personal statement about your life and times. We  will use fabric, objects of art, photographs, and words of empowerment to create a unique piece of art.

$50.00 for the class $10.00 for supplies

The Contemporary Artists Forum
Tuesdays at 7pm, every other Tuesday beginning February 14

The Contemporary Artists Forum is a critique group of serious artists living in New Jersey now in its tenth year. The group meets 8 evenings per semester every other Tuesday at 1978 Maplewood Arts Center at 7:00 pm. The Contemporary Artists Forum Exhibition, aka C.A.F.E., consists of work discussed during the year and is mounted each September at Gallery 1978. Mikel Frank, creator and leader of the group holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Pratt Institute and has worked at The Metropolitan Museum of Art since 1985. The cost for the 8 sessions is $50. There is a waiting list for this class.

It's Sew Crafty

Sewing is an art, as well as a skill. Our crafters go from an idea to a finished project. It's SEW Crafty was designed to teach the art and craft of sewing in a fun and funky way.- This surely is not Grandma's sewing class!
 
Sewing classes are taught by Crafty Katie a fiber artist and professional sewing teacher.
It's Sew Crafty is a new and exciting way to learn the art and craft of sewing.
And these classes are not just for girls- over the years we have had numerous boys and they really enjoy learning to sew
 
 
Wednesday and Thursday 4:45-5:45pm
Sew Simple : ages 7-10
This class is great for the younger sewers. monthly projects include hand sewing machine sewing, pinning and fabric cutting. Kids will learn to sew on a button, trimmings, and appliques while creating a fun project.
 
Thursday 6-7pm
Sew Much Fun : grades 6-8
Learn the fundamentals of sewing and take it one step farther to learn the building blocks to textile design.
